A scary kind of sick....

Our first week of October was nothing we would like to repeat. The week started with three kids having a stomach bug that left them dropping like flies one by one. Abby unfortunately bore the worst of scenarios that could have resulted in what should have been a 24 hour battle. Her bug turned into an infection of her colon, small intestine and stomach that caused great pain and the inability for these organs to function. I took her in to the new Kosair Brownsboro at 1:30 in the morning this past Sunday, where she received morphine for pain, both an x-ray and CT scan of her abdomen, as well as her first round of fluids for dehydration. By 4:30 we were on our way by transport to the downtown Kosair where she was admitted, treated for gastrointiculitis, and released Monday afternoon. She is slowly building her appetite back up as well as her energy. And needless to say, we have had our share of this seasons trips to the doctor.
